This department conducts research in astronomy, astrophysics, and cosmology and seeks to convey these concepts to the public. The staff members contribute to exhibits, public programs and publications. This series consists of records generated during these pursuits. The museum members' library, while it existed, was considered part of the Department of Astronomy therefore the records from the library and the office of the librarian are included in this series. The sub-series 'Correspondence' is first, followed by the 'Office of Senior Astronomer Eric Carlson,' followed by the 'Office of the Librarian,' followed by the remaining files. All files within the series and sub-series are in chronological order.
