Dial in gimbals, supported in a square, gilt brass base resting on four silver, turned feet. Base engraved with baroque strapwork arabesques. Silvered hour scale with Arabic numerals. Folding, gilt gnomon consisting of an open triangle straddling a compass. Hole to hang a plumb-bob missing. Gnomon for latitude 48°. Compass plate is silvered, with arrow for magnetic deviation (~13°W). Blued, arrow-shaped needle, type 14.
