Sundial: String-gnomon

Diptych-style dial for 48° latitude. Table of the length of day and entrance of the sun into the twelve zodiacal signs. Lunar volvelle of silvered brass set into a shallow well, labeled in Latin. String-gnomon with silvered hour plate labeled in Arabic numerals. Bottom of dial decorated with strap-work and leaves. Sides of dial are decorated with scrolling patterns and geometric designs.
