This sketch was part of the Chesley Bonestell Early Studies of Planetary Landscapes collection, consisting of a group of 21 oil sketches. The sketches were once housed in a three prong binder, and inscribed by the artist with his Hollywood address. CB-34 is one of the earliest surviving space paintings by Bonestell known to Ron Miller and Frederick C. Durant III.
