James Lovell's Hand Impressions
-
[nb-NO]Description[nb-NO]
These are the hand impressions from James Lovell. The hand impressions were done on November 12, 2012 during an event at the Adler to recognize the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 17 mission, the 11th and final manned flight to the Moon for NASA's Apollo program. Lovell was present at the event along with Harrison Schmitt and Eugene Cernan. During the program Lovell, Schmitt, and Cernan would have all pressed their hands into pieces of clay. The finished product is a square shaped piece of concrete with James Lovell's signature and the date at the top and his two hand prints underneath the date. The impression appears to have not been colored over at all, maintaining the clay's natural color.
