Dividers: Wing

Long-jointed wing dividers. Main section of joint is octagonal. Wavy cross pattern stamped on protruding caps of joint, and as trim on lower section of leg. Sections below joint are ornately shaped to form heart aperture and other apertures when dividers are closed. Random spiral stippling on this section. Long, sword like points. Some brass soldering or fill is evidence of a repair on one leg, below the pierced wing screw that fixes the dividers at a particular separation. The wing has a scalloped and engraved free end, with the other end embedded in one leg.
