Reproduction of Galileo's air thermoscope. Glass flask with spout on side and mouth at top. Cork in mouth. Glass tube with pear-shaped bulb inverted and inserted into cork stopper. In use, water held in flask. Changes in temperature and pressure cause the air in the bulb to expand or contract, thereby altering the water level in the tube.
