Adler Planetarium groundbreaking, August 9, 1971

Five men are shown scooping shovels full of turf from a patch of ground adjacent to the Adler Planetarium building. According to a note penciled on the back, the men from left to right are: David Stahl (Chicago Deputy Mayor), Daniel Shannon (President of the Chicago Park District), Emory Williams, Robert S. Adler, and Herman D. Smith. Per another penciled note, the occasion was the Adler Groundbreaking (for the addition to the Planetarium) on August 9, 1971.
