Image shows the basement level of the Adler Planetarium during its initial construction phase. The floor of the ground floor is completed overhead, but the walls and windows of the basement level are unfinished. A typewritten inscription on the front of the photograph in the bottom center reads: '7/12/29 Looking Northeast, Adler Planetarium, Grant Park, Chicago, Ernest A. Grunsfeld, Jr., Archt., B-W Construction Co., Builders.'
