Black-lacquered brass lattice-pattern frame, plastic handle containing a battery for scale illumination. Double-ended tangent screw on the front of the index arm, clamping screw on the back. Four shades (all green); three horizon shades (all green). Index glass adjustment by screw; horizon glass by capstan screws and square-headed screws by a detached key. Threaded telescope bracket in two parts, fitted for correcting collimation error, rising piece by milled knob. Hinged swiveling magnifier (single lens), with illumination and a frosted shade. Sight tube (90 mm), a spare light bulb; two adjusting keys; two shaded eyepieces (both red). Square fitted wooden box with a certificate of inspection of the U.S. Naval Observatory, dated January 1927.
