Circular brass frame with suspension ring. Engraved scrolling border. Armillary volvelle.; Round brass molding has a metal plate back which is screwed on. This frame holds the instrument, which consists of an outer flat silver? brass? ring with quadrants marked with a 0 to 90 scale. Inside is an engraved silver? brass globe projection. A central pin-rivet holds an iron needle. The ends of the needle are equipped with flattish silver cups attached with a brass headed device. A similar silver disk is positioned on top of the globe projection, held in place by the center pin-rivet. (TF)
