Octaagonal. Brass birds-eye rivet. Hour scale for 49° in Roman numerals; scales for 42° and 45° in Arabic. Compass rose labeled in French. Blued needle, type 10. Bottom of compass box is engraved. Dial has a case, but it is not original. Sharkskin, wood and velvet case with brass hardware belonged to a larger butterfield-type dial.
