W-259a

Maps of Ecliptic

One of six engraved copper plates for printing charts of the ecliptic for a celestial atlas that was never published. No constellation images. Plate W-259a contains the inscription 'Mr. Bishop's Ecliptical Chart Hour 9." At the top of plate W-259a "Epoch 1852" is engraved. The plate is a rectangular copper plate with stars engraved throughout the chart, starting at the 9th hour and moving towards the 10th hour.
