Space shuttle model

White plastic and enamel space shuttle with two hinged doors that open at the top of fuselage mounted onto a circular wooden base with metal placard. Detaches into five parts.

This is the Space Shuttle orbiter’s final design. Upon achieving orbit, it opens its cargo bay doors, here seen closed, to dissipate heat, exposed experiments to space, and to deploy the Shuttle’s payload for that mission. Thus configured, the Shuttle orbiter can remain in space for at least nine days.
