This shows the tremendous size of the Saturn V as compared with Saturn IB, Gemini-Titan and Mercury Atlas. The Saturn V rocket - the most powerful machine ever built - was 363 feet tall and capable of lifting 150 tons into orbit. Its third stage reached enough speed for the Apollo CSM and LM to break free from the Earth’s gravity and fly to the Moon.
