Parallel-point compass. Brass with steel points. One point is removable to be replaced by a drawing point (which is missing). When compass legs are spread, an extra bar extending from the main joint to below the joint on the legs pulls the points parallel to the drawing surface. Also, the leg joints are small hinges rather than circular knee joints.
