Magnetic Compass: Marine

Turned wooden box with screw-on lid (both cracked) and covered with a glass plate (chipped). Dry card compass printed with 32 points labelled in Danish. Seven points marked with stylized winds and animals. Lubber's line, i.e. a cross, inked to the side of the compass well indicating to the helmsman the direction of the ship's prow.

Signed on the card: "IVER JENSEN BORGER KIOBENH".

Fleurs-de-lys at north.
