Description
This piece features ephemera that was on board the Space Shuttle Atlantis on its final servicing mission to the Hubble Space Telescope during STS-125 in 2009. The ephemera includes an Illinois state flag in the top left hand corner of the frame, an STS-125 mission patch, and a certificate stating when, why, and by whom this piece was gifted. The large background photograph shows the Atlantis shuttle, and a picture of the crew.

Text on the certificate: "This Illinois state flag, crew patch, and accompanying antique telescope were flown aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis on its final servicing mission to the Hubble Space Telescope during STS-125, May 11-24 2009, traveling 5,276,000 miles in 197 orbits of the Earth. Presented to The Adler Planetarium from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the crew of Atlantis."
