Описание
Recto--Italian hours drawn as 2 sets of lines. Continuous lines for morning hours (9-19) and dotted for afternoon (17-24). Arabic numerals. Abbreviated Latin names of months June to December on left edge and December to June on right edge. Months divided into 10 day intervals. Limb divided 0-90 degrees every one degree. Original plumb-line missing. Shadow square of 12 parts in vertex. Solar motion table inscribed as 3 concentric rings: Initials of zodiacal signs; initials of months; scale [January] 7-8-6-5-5-4-4-4-3-4-5 [December]; "X III." Verso--same as recto, except instructions within ribbon. Additional pair of sights with line of stars between them. A very similar quadrant is in the Museo di Storia della Scienza in Florence. The same solar motion table appears on a pin-gnomon dial of Laurentius Vulpaia, 1560 (DPW-14) in the Adler Planetarium's collection.
