Reclining camel; hollow; 2 parts joined at neck. Head and neck can make a smooth 45° turn in neck socket, which suggests that the animal was designed as an automaton. Little pin in hollow of upper neck perhaps for attaching a turning mechanism. Top of hump cut off revealing square hole and three notches serving as match marks. Rider on camel's hump missing. Head and neck also have holes and indentions for attaching a bridle and reins (both missing). Screw holes in legs of camel indicate that it was formerly screwed to a base, likely of wood. Similar to clockwork automata from the same period.
