Object Story
Mercury’s four manned orbital flights were made with this vehicle. During the first, on February 20, 1962, John Glenn flew for four hours fifty-five minutes and achieved three orbits. During the last and longest, on May 15, 1963, Gordon Cooper flew for thirty-four hours twenty minutes and achieved twenty-two orbits.
