Octagnol dial, with plumb-bob. Stands on 3 turned legs that screw into base and are adjustable for leveling the dial. Silvered compass rose shows magnetic diviation (~15° W). Blued needle, type 36, is very rusty. The case of black leather is oil painted with scene of a ship in a storm. Lined in green paper. Not original. Leather, paper and brass case.
